RO Plants for Schools, Colleges and Offices
Drinking water in a school, college or office has two requirements that pull in different directions: it has to be safe every single day, and the people responsible for it are rarely water engineers. So the plant must be simple to run, easy to check, and built so that a missed filter change does not become a health problem. We have built RO plants since 1996, and we design institutional plants for the people who will actually operate them.

The challenge
What makes this sector different
Demand arrives all at once
Consumption concentrates around break times, lunch and shift changes. A plant sized on the daily average cannot meet those peaks on its own.
Run by non-specialists
The plant is usually looked after by facilities or administrative staff. It needs clear indicators and a simple routine, not an engineer's attention.
The weak point is after the plant
Storage tanks, pipework and dispensers are where treated water is most often recontaminated.
Budgets need clarity
Trustees and managements approve capital and running costs together. Both should be clear before the plant is ordered.
Sizing for break times, not for the day
Drinking water demand per person is small, but in a school or office it arrives in sharp peaks. The economical answer is to size the RO plant on the daily volume and let a treated water storage tank supply the peaks, rather than buying a plant big enough to meet the busiest ten minutes of the day directly.
A typical campus drinking water system
- Raw water storage fed from the municipal supply, borewell or tanker.
- Sand and activated carbon filtration to remove suspended solids and chlorine.
- Antiscalant dosing and micron cartridge filtration to protect the membranes.
- RO to reduce dissolved solids, with optional mineral correction for taste.
- Stainless steel treated water storage with a proper cover.
- UV disinfection on the outlet, feeding coolers and dispensers.
The weakest point in most school water systems is not the RO plant - it is the storage tank and the dispensers after it.
Keeping it safe with minimal supervision
- A TDS indicator on the panel, so anyone can see at a glance whether the plant is working.
- Pressure gauges before and after the cartridge filter, so a blocked filter is obvious.
- A simple, clearly labelled log sheet that takes a minute a day to fill in.
- Covered stainless steel storage and UV on the outlet to protect stored water.
- An annual maintenance contract, so filter changes and servicing do not depend on memory.
What we need to quote
The number of students and staff, shift or session timings, the water source and a recent analysis if you have one, the number of dispensing points or coolers, and the space available for the plant and storage.

Frequently asked questions
Can't find your answer? Call or WhatsApp us and we'll answer it.
What capacity RO plant does a school need?
It depends on the number of students and staff and on session timings. We size the plant on the daily drinking water volume and add treated water storage to cover break-time peaks, which is far cheaper than sizing the plant for the peak.
Should a school RO plant have UV?
Yes. UV on the outlet of the treated water storage protects against recontamination between the plant and the dispensers, which is where most problems in institutional systems start.
How often should the filters be changed?
Cartridge filters should be changed when the pressure drop across them rises, which the gauges on the plant show. An AMC takes the guesswork out by scheduling it.
Can the RO plant supply our existing water coolers?
Yes. The coolers and dispensers are fed from the treated water storage, so existing coolers can usually stay in place.
